about

Well, here's a thing... A concept album with some kind of story line.

This came about while messing around with Mandelbulb3D, a 3D fractal generator. One particular formula, Menger4, started me off thinking of the cube shaped "anomaly," and when I set the colour black, the "Monolith" from Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey sprang to mind and I started to develop a bit of an outline story based on this Menger4 cube.

I am no writer. So this has come as a bit of a surprise to me really. I was hopeless as a child at school at such tasks. And I am not much better now, aged sixty. As the story developed I also came up with the name of each track and the following is that basic story as it happens, track by track:-

Anomaly

Without any warning signs at all, a large dark cube suddenly appears and sits in Earth's troposphere at around two kilometres above the rolling hills of the Brecon Beacons in the United Kingdom. Military and defence experts are baffled as it does not show up on any electronic tracking devices.

Panic

It doesn’t take long for news to reach the other side of the globe and Humanity is thrown into panic and disarray as it comes to terms with what is now being called the “Anomaly.” And yet, the strange object just sits there doing nothing obvious.

Unite

World superpowers get together in an effort to understand the Anomaly. What is it? Where has it come from? What is its purpose? At the same time plans are agreed to set up world wide defences in case of any signs of hostility. But any anticipated hostility does not materialise and, again, the experts are left scratching their heads.

Confusion

After many months since the appearance of the Anomaly some people are finding that they are able to actually read the thoughts of others. For some reason not everyone develops this telepathic ability and it appears to only be gifted to those who are exceptionally kind and willing to help others. How this has come about no one knows but it can only be assumed that it is something to do with the Anomaly.

Wonder

The Anomaly has since disappeared and as months turn into years the human race begins to tackle all that was wrong with humanity. The new breed of telepathic individuals, now called “Guides” become a force for good by using their new ability to aid those in authority to make decisions that are for the good of the planet as a whole. It is notable that none of the Guides are prepared to take on direct leadership roles.

So, there we have it :-D

Music-wise, all five tracks are mainly drone based sequences in my usual style, I think.

I hope you enjoy :-)

Oh, you can see a five minute video that I created with Blender here:-

I am only just picking up Blender for the first time although I have done 3D graphic animations in the past. That was so long ago though that I found it a bit of an uphill task to be honest. So that video is just a taster and give you a bit of a look around the Anomaly.
